Google appears to be preparing a response to Apple’s Find My platform. In the beta version of Google Play Services, there was a code hinting at such a feature in Android.

In particular, there is a mention of the Find My Device network, which should allow your phone to discover your devices and those of other users.
string name=”mdm_find_device_network_description”>Allows your phone to help locate your and other people’s devices
string name=”mdm_find_device_network_title”>Find My Device network
At the moment, Google has an app for finding devices, but it only works for those devices that have an active Google account. The new feature should expand these capabilities. It will likely work on principles similar to how Apple AirTags work.
There are no other details, so it is not yet clear when the service can be expected to launch.
