Google made Material You for weak smartphones: top 3 Android 13 Go innovations

Just over one month after the mass release of Android 13, Google introduced a simplified version of the operating system – Android 13 Go. A special edition for technically weak smartphones has been developing for 5 years, and currently there are more than 250 million active devices in the world with budget processors and a minimum amount of RAM that successfully run Android Go. The new Android 13 Go will be especially significant because the update includes three major key innovations and even some of the features from the full Android 13.

First and foremost, Android 13 Go has the ability to install critical updates and security fixes independently of the OS itself – now directly through the Google Play store. The Material You responsive interface, which colors system elements and apps with the accent color of the wallpaper, is no longer limited to Android and will debut on affordable models with Android 13 Go. Declared support for four color schemes to choose from. The Google Discover feed (personalized news recommendations to the left of the home screen) will also debut in Android 13 Go.

From the original Android 13, notification permissions and separate language settings for applications are borrowed (probably more list, but this is what is stated in the official press release).

According to Google, the first smartphones running Android 13 Go will appear in 2023. More details will be revealed closer to release.
