Google has long ago launched a special “Tile view” mode in Google Meet video conferencing for computers, in which you can see up to 49 participants at the same time. Until now, this mode was not available on mobile phones.
But now Google developers have announced the beginning of the distribution of the Tile view for mobile devices. The feature is already becoming available to users of Apple mobile devices based on iOS. The developers promise that it will appear for Android “soon”.
In this mode, all participants in the video conference are shown in the same windows, instead of giving a close-up of the speaker. The exact maximum number of participants in the conversation that can be placed on the screen is not indicated. We can only assume that now the limit is eight, since the screenshot shows 8 participants and is marked “other 6”, that is, 14 people are participating in the conference.
