In February this year, a new advanced video editor appeared in the Google Photos app on iOS, and now Google is starting to roll out the corresponding update for the Android platform. The new tool allows you to crop, rotate and stabilize videos just like in the previous version of the editor. However, now users can also shorten video, export individual frames, change perspective, add filters, adjust brightness, contrast, saturation and other picture parameters.
In total, 30 new video editing tools are available to users. However, the app still lacks the ability to merge multiple videos into one like Apple’s iMovie.
Of course, there are many other Android video editing apps that offer more features, but it’s good to have everything you need in Google Photos since not everyone needs professional tools.

The update with the new Google Photos video editor is rolling out on the server side and is available for all Android devices, not just Google Pixels smartphones. You can also download the latest version of the app (v5.36.0.365895365) from Google Play to try to force the update. Access to new editing tools opens if you click on the “Edit” button while playing any video.
