Rumors of a foldable Google Pixel phone surfaced back in 2019, with hopes that the search giant would release a device called the Pixel Fold in 2021, but that hasn’t happened. In November, it became known that Google may have abandoned the project altogether, but now there is new information that the project is still in development.
MySmartPrice has found Google’s foldable smartphone test results in the popular Geekbench benchmark application database. The device is codenamed Google Pipit. The device is equipped with a Google Tensor system, which is also used in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. This SoC consists of two 2.8GHz cores, two 2.25GHz cores, and four 1.8GHz efficient cores. As for the GPU, this is the Mali G78.
In addition to describing the single-chip system, it is said that Google’s foldable phone will be equipped with 12 GB of RAM and will come in variants with 256 GB and 512 GB of flash memory. Of course, the phone runs Android 12 operating system.
Presumably Google could release this foldable phone in 2022.
