Google Pixel 6 finger scanner crashes as soon as smartphone runs out of battery

Since the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro smartphones went on sale, users have started complaining about various bugs and issues. Recent messages are related to the operation of the fingerprint scanner, which, according to the owners of these devices, not only responds slowly to touches, but also allows you to unlock your smartphone using other people’s fingerprints. Now many users are complaining about another sensor problem. It turns out that the fingerprint scanner stops working as soon as the Pixel 6’s battery runs out completely.

Several Pixel 6 owners reported on Reddit that the scanner stopped working when their smartphone was completely discharged and turned on after charging. Accordingly, they did not have the option to re-add the fingerprint in the settings menu. In some cases, users could start the process of adding a fingerprint, but it failed. They received error messages asking them to try again or use another finger. The issue report has already been submitted to the Google Issue Tracker.

This doesn’t seem like a hardware issue as it gets resolved after a factory reset and that’s the only way to get the fingerprint scanner working again so far. Some users blame the November security patch for this. In any case, it’s best to keep the Pixel 6 from completely draining to keep the fingerprint scanner working. By the way, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are the first Google smartphones with a fingerprint sensor in the display.
