Google Play commission reduced from 30% to 15% for the first million dollars annually

Back in March 2021, Google announced that it would soon halve Google Play Store commissions to 15% for developers earning less than $ 1 million in annual revenue. Google today started notifying developers that they can sign up and pay a 15% commission as early as July 1.

Sign up now for a 15% service charge: Effective July 1, the service charge will be 15% instead of 30% for your first $ 1M revenue each year. To make sure you are eligible for the 15% commission, you need to create a group of accounts in the Google Play Console.

Google Play commission reduced from 30% to 15% for the first million dollars annually

An account group is used to link associated Associated Developer Accounts (ADA) so that all accounts in the group can exercise the 15 percent commission right. In addition, developers also need to set up a billing profile and agree to the terms of service for a 15% service charge level.

On the App Store, anyone earning less than $ 1 million a year will be eligible for a 15% commission, but once that threshold is exceeded, the 30% commission is back in effect and developers won’t be able to claim the reduced commission next year. … Google, on the other hand, gives each developer a 15% rate on the first million dollars they earn each year, and the standard rate applies thereafter. This means that if an app developer earns $ 3 million a year, they will pay 15% commission on the first million, and then 30% on the additional $ 2 million.
