Google Play now shows reviews from owners of similar devices. It hasn’t even been 14 years

The great thing about Android is that this operating system is not limited to smartphones. Under her control, many gadgets work, including televisions, refrigerators and car media systems. With a wide range of Android devices, users also get a wide range of different options. However, there is a problem here, since such a variety of gadgets deprives the app rating system in the Play Store of any meaning. For example, a particular app might work great on a smartphone, but be horribly optimized for a tablet or other device. That is why a year ago, Google announced plans to make the rating system more personalized. Finally, these changes have taken place.

Mishaal Rahman of Esper found that app ratings are now based on device types, as previously announced. Right now, if you go to the page of any application on Google Play, it says that the ratings are from people who use similar devices. In addition, users can further filter reviews based on region, as well as display posts only for the same device model. In general, the average rating does not change much, but the number of reviews left varies significantly.

This is the first step towards making the ratings and reviews system more useful, although it needs to be improved. For example, foldable devices are still classified by Google as tablets.
