Google has begun testing a new feature for its branded Chrome browser, which may delight those who are still experiencing the loss of Google Reader.

Some US users have noticed an RSS feature in experimental builds of Chrome Canary for Android. When opening a site or blog that supports RSS, the user will be prompted to subscribe to updates using the “Follow” button. New notes from sites that the user has subscribed to will appear in the Following section on the Chrome new tab page.

According to feedback from enthusiasts who have tested the innovation, it looks like a very tiny, limited piece of functionality that was provided in the iconic Google Reader before Google stopped serving the RSS aggregator in 2013.
