Google Releases List of Top Searches of the Year; know what they are

Google released this Wednesday (8) the list “Search of the Year 2021”, with a retrospective of the subjects and terms that most aroused interest and demonstrated a growth in the platform. The singer Marília Mendonça, who died in a plane accident in November, appears as the name most searched by Brazilians this year, which reinforces the artist’s size and importance in the country.

In Google’s ranking, 18 categories appear, ranging from “search of the year” (general) to searches on what “has become a meme”, “events” and “how to be”. The terms “Eurocup”, “Palm Trees”, “Olympics”, “How to make a vegetable garden at home”, “What is a cringe”, “decorated nails”, “how to be a cool person”, “how much does a cylinder cost” of oxygen”, “BBB 2021” and “Nescau brownie”.

It is important to highlight that the terms in question were not necessarily the most searched for the year. The list contains the top trends, based on the items that had the greatest increase in interest in 2021 compared to the previous year. To enter the rankings, they need to have some stability time in the polls. If a term has registered a significant increase, but only for one day, it is not counted.

In the platform’s global list of items from Brazil that appear among the ten with the greatest interest and growth in searches, singer Marília Mendonça appears in the list again. Besides her, singer and artist Paulo Gustavo, Lázaro Barbosa (accused of killing four people in Goiás), MC Kevin, BBB 2021, Palmeiras, Corinthians and São Paulo (the team) also appear.

The Brazilian list has the following categories: Searches of the Year (General), Events, How to do it, What?, Deaths, Films, Series, TV Shows, Music (Lyrics), Personalities, Football clubs, Near me, How much does it cost, Olympic Athletes, Recipes, Beauty, Became a meme and How to be. The news this year are the categories “close to me”, “how much does it cost” and “how to be”.
