Google Stadia Coming For Xbox: Testing Chromium-Based Browser For Microsoft Console

Participants in early testing gained access to Microsoft Edge on Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Series X consoles. According to The Verge, full keyboard and mouse support is not yet available, the browser is controlled by an Xbox controller and is still a little “glitchy”.

The Chromium-based Edge is expected to provide not only easy site access, but also the ability to run the Google Stadia gaming cloud service. Improved compatibility with browser games and web versions of services like Skype and Discord is also expected.

The early version provides all the basic features now offered in the stable Edge for PC – sync across devices, support for extensions, vertical tabs, Collections, and so on.

Starting tomorrow, March 9, 2021, the company will stop supporting Microsoft Edge Legacy (in the Russian-language documentation – old or outdated Microsoft Edge), which means the termination of the release of updates for the browser.
