Google has announced its intention to disable Easy Mode in the Chrome browser for Android. This feature allows you to save traffic and speed up page loading. It will be deactivated on March 29, 2022.
“Easy Mode” appeared in Google Chrome in 2015. Its essence was to tunnel traffic through the servers of the search giant with a slow Internet. At first it was a Data Saver extension for the desktop version of the browser, and in 2016 the function was integrated into the Android application. In 2019, the company abandoned the extension, but kept this feature on Android under a different name – Lite Mode (“Simplified Mode”). In the same year, the developers introduced support for Lite Pages.
According to a message from Chrome Support, Google will remove “Easy Mode” on Android when the stable version of the browser reaches version 100. The company explains its decision by the fact that in recent years there has been a decrease in the cost of mobile data in many countries of the world. In addition, Google has made improvements to its browser that can reduce traffic and speed up the loading of web pages.
