The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia issued a decision against Google – the company was found to have violated antitrust laws regarding the rules for blocking accounts of the popular YouTube video hosting.

In April 2021, the FAS opened an antitrust case against Google. Now the FAS has established that the rules related to the formation, suspension, blocking of accounts and the circulation of user content on Youtube are opaque, biased and unpredictable.
As noted in the department, this leads to sudden blocking and deletion of user accounts without warning and justification for actions. FAS found that such behavior infringes on the interests of users, and also limits competition in adjacent markets.
The amount of the fine for the company will be determined during the administrative investigation.
