Google has warned users about changes in the work of the cloud service “Google Drive”. From now on, if a file in the storage is found to be in violation of the terms of service or Google policies, its use may be restricted. If so, users will receive an email with details of the violation and further steps they can take to request a review of the decision.
When access to a file is restricted, a check box will appear next to it. The user will not be able to share it even if others already have a link to it.
The company does not specify which files will be blocked, but content that violates Google’s policies includes malware, explicit files, misinformation and hate speech. The search giant is confident that such measures will help ensure that users are protected from offensive content. In addition, they will always be informed about the status of their store.
The changes took effect on December 14 and will be rolled out to all users gradually.
