Google announced the imminent closure of another service designed for developers.

We are talking about the service URL Parameters (URL parameters), which helped to prevent crawling of the same pages of the site by Google robots. Parameters are used after the main URL to help filter or arrange content. As a result, pages that are identical in terms of content can be created with slightly different parameters. Google’s URL Parameters tool makes it relatively easy to make Google crawlers ignore certain parameters.
In a brief post, Google explains that the URL Parameters tool will be closed at the end of April 2022. The service page specifies that this will happen on April 26, 2022.
That being said, Google notes that this tool has become of little use as branded search has become better at guessing which URL parameters are actually useful, which is about 1% of parameter configurations overall. Google notes that users do not need to do anything with the tool before it turns off, and the process will become automatic later on.
