Google has officially announced an update to its line of branded Pixel Buds wireless headphones. The flagship Pixel Buds 2, which is now a year and a half, has been joined by a simplified version called Pixel Buds A. It’s a budget option without some premium features, but with support for core Google technologies. Due to this, the price of Pixel Buds A dropped by as much as $ 80.
The Pixel Buds A’s overall tonal balance is handled by specially designed 12mm dynamic drivers. According to Google, the headphones deliver clear and natural sound with bass boost. The latter is achieved thanks to the support of Bass Boost technology. The sound volume automatically adapts to the environment. For example, Pixel Buds A will increase the volume in noisy places such as a city street or subway, and decrease it at home in order to eliminate sound effects.
The Pixel Buds A are designed with a spatial ventilation hole to reduce pressure in the ears – it prevents the sensation of plugging the duct so that the headphones can be worn comfortably even for long periods of time. Like the Pixel Buds 2, the Pixel Buds A has a temple for a stable fit. Noise cancellation is passive.
Other features of Pixel Buds A include:
- microphones focus on the user’s voice and reduce external noise, so the interlocutor hears it loudly and clearly;
- up to 5 hours of listening time or 2.5 hours of talk time on a single charge (up to 24 hours of music and up to 12 hours of talk time using the charging case);
- fast charging – 15 minutes in the case gives up to three hours of battery life;
- waterproof according to the IPX4 standard;
- support for “Google Assistant” with the launch of a voice command;
- Real-time translation into over 40 languages (works on Pixel smartphones or others, starting from Android 6.0+).
