GoPro introduced Hero 11 and Hero 11 Mini: with a new sensor, but in the old case

Almost a year after the official presentation of the GoPro Hero 10, the company’s employees announced the flagship action cameras of the new generation – we are talking about the GoPro Hero 11 and Hero 11 Mini models. Here it is worth immediately clarifying that the body of the GoPro Hero 11 completely repeats the GoPro Hero 10 up to the dimensions and color, the difference is only in the inscription on the side face. And, most interestingly, Hero 11 Mini, which many might mistakenly perceive as a simplified version of the flagship camera, actually has exactly the same characteristics and capabilities, but is packaged in a more compact form factor and lacks displays.

The camera specs look more than impressive – the 1/1.9 image sensor now has a resolution of 27 megapixels, plus it can also record video with a 10-bit color gamut. As a result, the user can shoot video at resolutions up to 5.3K at 60 fps or 4K at 120 fps – both options are good for action scenes, but 120 FPS certainly makes itself felt. More representatives of the company noted that the cameras received a new shooting mode called FullFrame, which provides the ability to shoot content with an aspect ratio of 8: 7. But there is, of course, the HyperView mode, which uses the more traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. The camera is waterproof and can be submerged in water up to 10 meters.

Additionally, Vehicle Lights, Star Trails and Light Paint video modes were announced, which allow you to shoot better content in low-light conditions. But the main bonus is the proprietary HyperSmooth stabilization system, which now includes the AutoBoost function – the camera in automatic mode can cope even with fairly strong vibration. And it’s important to note that the GoPro Hero 11 comes standard with an Enduro battery, which was previously an optional accessory for the previous generation of action cameras. Also in the box, the user will find a shipping case, adhesive mounts, a mounting buckle with a thumb screw, a 32 GB Sandisk Extreme SD card, and a USB Type-C cable.

The GoPro Hero 11 Black starts at $500, which is the price for a basic kit, but there are more than enough kits with accessories on the official website for every taste and color. For example, you can also get a special helmet mount and camera holder for $550. The Hero 11 Mini starts at $399, but if the Hero 11 has already gone on sale, the Mini version won’t hit the shelves until October 25th.
