President Jair Bolsonaro published a provisional measure (MP) this Tuesday (28) opening an extraordinary credit of R$ 200 million for the reconstruction of roads and highways affected by the rains.
The Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Freitas, told the CNN Brasil that R$80 million of the amount will go to Bahia, which is facing a tragedy that has already left 20 people dead and more than 30 thousand homeless and homeless.
“The entire amount of R$80 million is for Bahia. We also have emergencies in Amazonas, Pará, Minas Gerais and São Paulo”, explained the minister.
According to him, it is a first installment of extraordinary credit that will be destined to the northeastern state. The minister stated that the amount has not yet been closed. According to him, “it continues to rain and the damage increases”. So far, the federal government has allocated around R$ 20 million to the state.
“The next provisional measure must also include resources for Civil Defense and immediate assistance actions for victims and recovery of the affected areas”, he explained.
According to the CNN Brasil, initiatives from the Ministries of Citizenship, Regional Development, Health, Defense and Infrastructure will be contemplated.
In the face of heavy rains that hit Bahia, the municipality of Itajuípe, in the south of the state, has more than 800 homeless families and a crisis in the supply of drinking water.
As well as parts of the highways BR-155/PA and BR-158/PA, in the state of Pará, and the BR-319/AM and BR-174/AM, in the state of Amazonas, which are the only ones that make connections with important logistical centers and transport by land.
