Government and Congress accelerate price control agenda; market reacts with rising dollar


High oil prices and changes in command at Petrobras show the search for solutions by the government and Congress on fuel prices. The bill 18/2022, approved in the Chamber of Deputies and which continues in the Senate, may have an outcome soon. The rapporteur, Senator Fernando Bezerra (MDB-PE), should deliver this week the report on the proposal that establishes a ceiling of 17% of ICMS on goods considered essential.

And this Wednesday (8) the deadline for the purchase of Eletrobras shares with the FGTS or not. Workers who wish to use their resources to acquire shares have until 12:00 to reserve the assets.

Finally, the OECD revised its growth forecast in Brazil and in the world, reducing economic expectations for this year and 2023. The Organization fears the consequences of global inflation and the impacts of an election year on the Brazilian market.
