Government crisis, who are the possible “responsible” of Conte

It’s time for “Responsible”. According to reports from Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who will appear in the House on Monday and in the Senate on Tuesday to report on the crisis, these names “are there”. The only certainty is that the break with Matteo Renzi is final and Conte seems determined to find a new majority without Italia Viva.

If in the Chamber, where the majority has 346 deputies, which without the 30 of Italia Viva become 316, the numbers are there, the knot to be solved remains in the Senate where up to now the government has had the support of 158 parliamentarians, who and without the Renzians they would become 140.

This is where the “responsible” come into play, especially from Mixed Group, a possibility considered increasingly plausible by experts.

Among the possible names, according to what the chroniclers report, are those of former 5 stars such as De Falco, Giarrusso and Nugnes, Maurizio Buccarella, Saverio De Bonis, Luigi Di Marzio, Tiziana Drago, Elena Fattori then the senator Tommaso Cerno, but also the UDC senators: Paola Binetti, Antonio De Poli and Antonio Saccone.

The mayor of Benevento, Clemente Mastella he certainly said he was ready to intervene to follow the group of managers. “I can give my contribution, I can be a director” he explained to Corriere della Sera. «I will certainly not run anymore. Mine is an act of love for the country ». At his side, in favor, his wife Sandra Lonardo, former Forza Italia, who joined the mixed group last July.

If Conte does not finally find a majority, without Italia Viva, he will have to resign at the Quirinale. “Deciding to be builders in this political phase means making a clear choice for the good of the country,” the premier told the opposition senators, at the same time as Lega leader Matteo Salvini commented on Corriere della Sera: «I get chills thinking about the offers from the souk that will be made on this and that. I remember what Mattarella himself said to me and to the entire center-right: I will give you the job if you can bring me real and serious numbers for a true and serious government. Not those of three guys in no particular order. ‘

“The stability of Italy is also a precious asset for the European Union”, reads a note released by the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli. «We are sure that the President Conte and the government forces know how to overcome this difficult moment by protecting the Italians from irresponsibility. The plan launched by the Italian government is fundamental for the recovery and the future of the new Europe ”.

Prime Minister Conte will enjoy the Maie support, the Italian Associative Movement abroad. “We are convinced that a majority willing to support Prime Minister Conte is still possible”, underlined Senator Ricardo Merlo, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs. “Possibly even doing without those irresponsible people who have put their personal interests above those of the citizens. For this reason, from Maie-Italia23 we continue to work to look to the future and guarantee years of work and reforms for the good of the country and of the Italians ».

In the (remote) hypothesis of early elections, which would occur if, with the resignation of Conte resigned in the Quirinale, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella did not find another person able to obtain a majority and therefore form a government, Prime Minister Conte has a plan B ready: to go to the elections with his own list of “builders” which could be called “Together”.
