Government distributes religious booklet to PRF servers

The federal government has distributed a religious booklet to employees of the Federal Highway Police (PRF). The material, called “Daily Public Security Bread”, brings motivational words and encourages the reading of biblical psalms, which would be causing controversy in the police institution.

In the evaluation of public security servants, with whom the CNN talked, the booklet mixes work with religion, going against the principle of secularism. The PRF informed in a note that the booklet is “a strategic project aimed at spiritual assistance” and that it was created by the institution itself “aiming at the integral health of the server”.

THE CNN had access to the material. He emphasizes that spiritual assistance is due to the “exposure levels of work activities”, “impacting in a direct relationship in the quality of life of public safety professionals”.

“It is clear that spirituality in the work environment can improve the quality of life of public safety professionals. It should be noted that collaborations of this nature do not harm the secularity of the Brazilian state”, says the text.

The material also notes that the initiative “proposes to mobilize faith in order to achieve the appreciation of the organizational culture”, as well as “strengthen family unity” and “balance personal finances”.

Still in a note, the PRF said that “scientific studies point out that integral health is composed of physical, mental and spiritual health”. “Statistics indicate that the service generates the appreciation of human rights.”

The PRF also pointed out that spiritual assistance had already been carried out in previous years and that the initiative did not generate “any cost for the police force”.

“Furthermore, no religious matrix is ​​excluded”, stressed the police force. “The chaplaincy service is always guided by the religion and spirituality of the person being assisted”, she highlighted.

The PRF reported that it contacted the institution’s ombudsman and that no complaints were reported with the alleged embarrassment. “There is no coercion for any servant to participate in any spiritual assistance activities,” she explained.
