Government issues decree approving National Solid Waste Plan

President Jair Bolsonaro issued a decree approving the National Solid Waste Plan (Planares). The act, which will be published in the Official Diary of the Union this Thursday (13), defines goals, guidelines, projects, programs and actions aimed at achieving the objectives of the National Solid Waste Policy for a horizon of 20 years, according to the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic.

The National Solid Waste Policy was instituted by Law 12,305, in August 2010, establishing instruments for advances in the management and management of solid waste in the country. This law established the minimum content for Planares.

“The National Solid Waste Plan, therefore, represents the long-term strategy at the national level to operationalize the legal provisions, principles, objectives and guidelines of the Policy”, says the General Secretariat in a note released this evening.

According to the government, the content of the plan received contributions at regional and national public hearings, held to enable greater participation by society.

“Thus, the National Solid Waste Plan meets the interests of the Public Administration, as it enables the materialization of an important instrument provided for in the National Solid Waste Policy, awaited since 2010, and contributes to greater predictability and legal certainty, proving to be a measure timely and convenient that has a positive impact on improving the quality of life of Brazilians.”
