The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) decided to maintain the 10% blend of biodiesel with diesel until March 31, 2023, in order to provide more predictability and guarantee supply, according to a decision by the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) in meeting held on the afternoon of this Monday (21).
As of April 1st of next year, the mixture may increase to 15%, according to the CNPE, fulfilling the provisions of the biodiesel program created in 2018. The agency indicated, however, that it “admits any technological production route”, making room for the insertion of Petrobras RX diesel, which has only 5% of renewable share.
The measure displeased the biodiesel sector, which had already obtained support from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) for Petrobras’ RX diesel not to be adopted in the diesel blending program, as it is not fully renewable.
