Government must release R$ 2 million to Angra dos Reis

The federal government should announce this Monday (4th) the release of R$ 2 million for assistance and relief to victims of heavy rains that punished the state of Rio de Janeiro over the weekend.

The amount will be directed to Angra dos Reis, one of the most affected municipalities.

THE CNN found that this amount refers to the first resource requested by the city hall and came out of the Civil Defense budget.

The expectation is that the announcement will be made after the visit of President Jair Bolsonaro to the affected areas. According to reports made to CNNBolsonaro should fly over the affected areas this Monday.

So far, four cities in Rio de Janeiro are in a state of emergency, at least 17 people have died and 5,000 are homeless.

In Angra dos Reis, the Ministry of Regional Development recognized the emergency situation. This allows accelerating the release of aid to the municipality. To guarantee this aid, municipalities need to apply through the Civil Defense system.
