Government needs to participate in discussions, says Lira about state-owned companies

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), declared, this Monday (20), after meeting with leaders of benches, that the federal government and the Ministry of Economy need to be directly involved in discussions about state-owned companies. .

“There is a feeling, almost unanimous, on the part of all the leaders who participated in this meeting, that the Ministry of Economy and the federal government must also be directly involved in these discussions, participate more closely and act more closely in these discussions” , said Lira.

“As, for example, instead of formatting a PEC, in matters that are constitutional, or bills, of matters that are infraconstitutional, they can be resolved more quickly through provisional measures, which may change some aspects of Law 13,303 , or Law on State-Owned Companies, which allow for greater synergy between state-owned companies and the government of the moment”, he continued.

The president of the Federal Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), was also present at the meeting. According to Lira, he took notes to take to the leaders of the House.

For Lira, there is nothing to celebrate in the resignation of the president of Petrobras, José Mauro Coelho. The decision came three days after a new increase in fuel prices and amid pressure from the government.

Coelho was fired a month ago, but the process of checking the candidate nominated to be his replacement, Caio Paes de Andrade, has not yet ended. Board member Fernando Borges temporarily assumes the command of Petrobras, after being appointed by the company’s Board of Directors’ chairman, Márcio Weber.

In addition to leaving the presidency of the state-owned company, Coelho also resigned as a member of the Board, as disclosed by the company.

New meetings with opposition parliamentarians and the government will be held in the Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday (21) to discuss the theme and the proposal of a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of Petrobras.
