Government of Espírito Santo confirms fourth death in attack on schools

The Secretary of Health of Espírito Santo (Sesa) confirmed, this Saturday (26), the death of a 38-year-old woman, victim of attacks on two schools in the city of Aracruz, which took place on Friday (25).

According to the statement, the patient was attended to on site by SAMU192 and transferred to Hospital Estadual Dr. Jayme dos Santos Neves (HEJSN), in Serra.

Also this Saturday, the Civil Police of Espírito Santo (PCES) reported that the 16-year-old teenager, apprehended in Aracruz, will respond for an offense similar to the crimes of 10 attempted murders and three aggravated homicides, all with the impossibility of defending the victim.

The note also says that the teenager was sent to the Institute of Socio-Educational Assistance of Espírito Santo (Iases), in Cariacica, in Greater Vitória. The seized weapons were sent to the Department of Criminalistics – Ballistics of the PCES, together with the ammunition. The case is still under investigation by the Civil Police.

The attack

On Friday, the city of Aracruz confirmed the attack on two educational institutions, the State Elementary and Middle School (EEFM) Primo Bitti and the private school Centro Educacional Praia de Coqueiral (CEPC), both in the Coqueiral neighborhood.

At that moment, the prefecture had already confirmed the death of three people died and 11 having been injured.

According to the state Department of Public Security, the gunman managed to enter the first school, EEFM Primo Bitti, after breaking the lock on the gate. He opened fire in the staff room, leaving two teachers dead and nine injured.

The shooter proceeded to the second school by car, where he killed a 12-year-old child, and left two people injured, with no information on their ages.

The Military Police reported that the author of the crime was identified as an afternoon shift student at EEFM Primo Bitti, who fled in a gold-colored Renault Duster vehicle with the license plate covered towards the shore.
