After 27 days of the partial collapse of the roof of the Sanctuary of Morro da Conceição, in the north of Recife, the Government of Pernambuco and the Archdiocese of Olinda and Recife signed, on Thursday (26), a Development Agreement that formalizes the transfer R$1.5 million for the reconstruction of the temple.
The amount will be used to renovate the roof and metal structure. The expectation is that the works will be completed by the festivities of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, on December 8th.
The signing ceremony was attended by Governor Raquel Lyra and the Archbishop of Olinda and Recife Dom Paulo Jackson, who highlighted the importance of the temple’s restoration for the religious community.
In addition to the signing of the agreement, the campaign “Extend your hand to Morro da Conceição” was launched, which invites the faithful to contribute to the reconstruction.
“We are taking care of the lives, the families, the people affected. Our first commitment is to rebuilding hope through an immense network of solidarity, but we also want to rebuild the Sanctuary of Morro da Conceição because it is a great symbol of faith”, comments Archbishop Dom Paulo Jackson.
It is possible to collaborate through the institution’s website.
