Government of RJ will hire police officers to work on bus

The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro (PL), sanctioned a law authorizing the hiring of military police, civilians, criminal and municipal guards on days off to operate on the buses circulating through the capital’s metropolitan region.

According to the text, at the initiative of the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro, the agreement must prioritize the safety of public transport passengers, providing for strategic actions for the performance of security agents within the buses.

According to the Government of Rio de Janeiro, the performance of the contracted agents should be directed according to the violence rates and the risk factors monitored by the intelligence sectors of the public safety agencies.

“Security is our government’s priority and this program adds to integrated public safety policies. It is another concrete measure to combat the crime and return the tranquility of those who leave home to work or study and also bus system workers,” said Castro.
