Government of São Paulo announces cycle route on state highway

The government of the state of São Paulo announced, in a press conference this Wednesday (26), a 75 km cycle route on the “fruit route”. It will be released on the 29th of January.

The construction of this cycle path will integrate the cities of Jundiaí, Louveira, Vinhedo and Itatiba. According to the state government, the idea is to encourage “safe and sustainable travel”, in addition to helping tourism in the region.

“The fruit cycle route is fully completed, it has four access points, all with bathrooms, spaces for food and areas for the safe parking of bicycles and cars that will take cyclists there”, said Governor João Doria during the announcement. at the Bandeirantes Palace.

“The entire route is properly signposted, according to international standards, monitored with security cameras and also with mechanical and health assistance”, he added.

According to the state government, this is the first cycle route in Brazil.

In all, the government project has five routes, totaling 300 km. They are the routes of flowers, fruits, pilgrims, Caieiras x Nazaré Paulista and Mogi das Cruzes x Guararema.

On December 11, 2021, the flower route was inaugurated, in the municipality of Holambra, with 14 km of extension.

Vinicius Lummertz, São Paulo’s Secretary of Tourism, stated that the “prospect for the next two months is one million trips and 240,000 travelers on the set of routes”.

The new route also passes through Serra Azul, the second tourist district in the state, created in November last year. There are, for example, the Wet’n Wild and Hopi Hari parks. Lummertz estimates that investments in the region will reach R$ 1.8 billion and 7,440 new jobs by 2026.
