Government of SP creates emergency center for dengue

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), announced this Thursday morning (23) the creation of an Emergency Operations Center for dengue and other arboviruses.

The head of the São Paulo Executive also promised that he will send, starting next Friday (24), around R$ 228 million to the municipalities of São Paulo to combat dengue.

According to the Department of Health’s Arbovirus Panel, the state has 63,383 probable cases and 21,835 confirmed records of dengue. Of these, 55 patients developed serious cases. There are still six deaths due to the disease. Another 85 deaths are under investigation.

“Through a situational panel, we will be able to see the evolution of the situation and provide immediate support to the municipalities”, said Tarcísio, regarding the operation of the emergency center.

“We will be in permanent contact with the municipal health departments and geolocated where we are having problems so that we can take immediate action,” he added.

During a speech at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, the Secretary of Health, Eleuses Paiva, stated that he considers dengue this year to be a “great challenge”.

“We had a lot of people who had dengue last year. Repetition favors severe dengue fever”, highlighted the governor. He highlighted another complicating factor, which is the fact that serotype 3 of the disease is circulating throughout the state.
