Government of SP foresees rapid processing for the supply of cannabidiol in the SUS

After almost a year of waiting, Tarcísio de Freitas' government now plans a quick process to start offering medicines containing cannabidiol and other medicinal cannabis compounds in the Unified Health System (SUS).

The expectation, they told CNN sources from the Health Department of the São Paulo government, is that the bidding notice for the supply of these medicines in the public network will be published within a few weeks.

While the bidding process is ongoing, according to the secretariat, the registration of patients who will be authorized to receive medicines through the SUS will also begin.

These are two requirements that could accelerate the arrival of these medicines on the public network in the coming weeks.

The decree that regulates the law on the subject was edited on the 22nd and published yesterday (26th), almost a year after the text was sanctioned in the São Paulo Legislative Assembly.

The text predicted that the new rule would come into force in April. The government claims that there was no delay and argues that it was necessary to set up a working group to define the parameters of the regulation.
