Government panel asks to declare a state of emergency

The Japanese government panel on the response to coronavirus recommended that a state of emergency be declared in Japan as soon as possible, Reuters reported.

A rapid spread of infections nationwide can occur if infections in Tokyo and surrounding regions do not decrease, the panel noted. “Measures to reduce contagion risks associated with eating out should be strengthened under the state of emergency,” the panel said.

It is expected that declare a state of emergency for Tokyo and three nearby areas on Thursday.
