The Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, Silvio Almeida, informed this Saturday (29) that the federal government is preparing a plan aimed at the homeless population.
“We are designing, under the coordination of President Lula, a great national policy in defense of homeless people. It will mobilize a series of other ministries, such as Labor, Health, Social and Regional Development”, said the minister.
The minister made the statement while participating in Expo Favela Innovation 2023, an entrepreneurship fair that establishes connections between favelas and asphalt, in Cidade das Artes, in the west zone of the Rio de Janeiro capital.
Among the actions, according to the minister, is the regulation of the Law Padro Julio Lancellotti, which prohibits the use of hostile architecture that creates elements that make it difficult for people living on the streets, the Housing First program, which is to think of housing as an element fundamental for people in a chronic situation on the street, in addition to health and employment programs.
“It’s not just giving the house, it’s also organizing people’s lives. It also has Minha Casa, Minha Vida quotas for homeless people. This has also been discussed with the minister [das Cidades] Jader [Filho] and we will produce a decree. President Lula must evaluate and we are going to give meaning and materialization to this policy”, said Almeida.
