The government will cut around R$ 14 billion in the Budget in order to make room for the salary readjustment of civil servants and accommodate the increase in mandatory expenses. The information was confirmed to CNN by high-ranking members of the Esplanada dos Ministérios. The blockade will be above the R$ 8.2 billion foreseen in the income and expenses monitoring bulletin, released last week by the Ministry of Economy.
According to information given to the CNN , the ministries received communications from the portfolio headed by Paulo Guedes and will have until next week to respond. The Palácio do Planalto wants to know, in short, if the proposed cuts to pay for the readjustment of servers and other expenses are viable. According to CNN found, the ministries will have to say whether they will be able to ‘survive’ until the end of the year with these cuts.
Based on this information, President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) will make the decision on the readjustment. Bolsonaro’s allies told CNN , reservedly, that if the folders that are on the resource block list give the green light, the increase to functionalism comes out. Otherwise, the readjustment may not be taken off the paper.
The total amount of the block includes the increase in mandatory expenses, such as the harvest plan and payment of precatories and the resources needed to grant a 5% readjustment to all servers, which should require space in the Budget of R$ 6.3 billion .
