The Civil House stated that the new ordinance with rules on the requirement of a vaccine passport to enter Brazil will not be published this Monday (13th). The Attorney General of the Union (AGU) must call the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to discuss some points, such as the situation of unvaccinated Brazilians who will not be able to enter the country itself.
Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, of the STF, determined, on Saturday (11), the mandatory presentation of the vaccine passport for entry into the country. The opinion states that quarantine would be an ineffective measure due to the difficulty in monitoring by the authorities.
Only those dispensed for medical reasons or those who come from a country where there is proven no vaccine available or for exceptional humanitarian reasons will be exempt from presenting the vaccine passport.
After Barroso’s opinion, the government held a meeting to discuss “border adjustments”. According to the executive secretary of the Ministry of Health, Rodrigo Cruz, the meeting was attended by technicians from the Ministries of Health, Infrastructure, International Relations, Justice, Civil Affairs, the Federal Attorney General (AGU) and the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).
This Monday (13), the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) notified all border posts, especially airports, for immediate compliance with the Supreme Court decision.
The charging and guidance to travelers, according to Anvisa, is being implemented throughout this Monday at all airports where international flights arrive.
