The federal government sent a proposal for a 7.8% salary adjustment for civil servants starting in March. The document was sent on Thursday night (16) to the unions that represent the categories of the Executive Branch and has the signature of the Secretary for Personnel Management, Sérgio Mendonça.
The proposal also includes a 46.6% increase in food vouchers, equivalent to R$200. The amount refers to the accumulated variation of the IPCA from February 2016 to February 2023. If approved, the benefit would increase from R$ 458 to BRL 658.
According to government calculations, the impact will be R$ 11.6 billion, an amount already foreseen in the 2023 Budget for salary adjustments.
The proposal was closed after the meeting of the first negotiating table with civil servants, which was attended by unions and representatives of the Secretariat for Personnel Management, the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services.
The categories claimed the opening of a dialogue channel on salary recomposition, since meetings with the Executive did not take place during the management of former President Jair Bolsonaro. Unions calculate a wage gap that can reach, in some cases, 30%, considering more than 4 years without readjustment.
In the last year of government, pressured by the electoral campaign and stoppages, Bolsonaro even promised a 5% salary adjustment to federal employees, but ended up going back.
From now on, the categories will evaluate what was proposed by the government and must submit a response on February 28, in a meeting with government representatives.
A CNN found that the document, despite not fully meeting the civil servants’ request, was positively received by the categories, who see the movement as an “emergency” way to meet the demands in the first year of government.
