The federal government has reanalyzed the decision adopted in 2019 to extinguish daylight saving time in the country. The reanalysis on the subject was a request from the Ministry of Mines and Energy to the National Electric System Operator (ONS).
And it was based on a change in the electricity curve with the shift in maximum demand resulting from the growing share of distributed solar generation.
Since last year, members of the tourism, food and beverage business segment have asked members of the government to return to daylight saving time.
In a note, the ONS confirmed that there was a request for “a reassessment on the subject”, but informed that “there is no expectation of adoption of daylight saving time in 2022”.
“The assessments point to a much more favorable situation than in the last two years, and therefore there are no problems for the supply of electricity in the country,” he said.
wanted by CNN , Mines and Energy Minister Adolfo Saschida said he prefers not to comment on the matter. According to reports from federal government sources, the matter is being evaluated by the Planalto Palace, but no decision has yet been taken.
