Government seizes more than 1.2 thousand tons of irregular products at the border

The federal government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, seized 1.2 thousand tons of illegal and clandestine products in 13 operations of the Agricultural Defense Surveillance Program for International Borders (Vigifronteira). The country has 15,719 km of borders with ten countries.

According to the annual report released on Sunday (16), 209.2 tons of pesticides, 174.8 tons of fertilizers, 573.4 tons of seeds, 6,600 veterinary products, 149.5 tons of animal feed products were confiscated, 112.9 tons of animal products, 42.9 tons of vegetable products and 15,700 liters of beverages.

The operations were carried out in 16 states: Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Ceará, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Rondônia, Acre, Pará, Maranhão, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo and Holy Spirit.

There were thirteen interventions in total, seven on land borders, two on maritime borders, two on foreign exchange and two on trade. The investigations took place in 336 properties, 2,700 vehicles, 16 boats and 28 establishments.

As a result, ten interdictions were carried out in establishments, ten arrests in flagrante delicto and 336 fines. Authorities also found 1,732 undocumented animals.
