Government should not “meddle” in women’s fertility decisions, says Nikki Haley

Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley reinforced that she believes “embryos are babies,” but said “that doesn’t mean everyone has to think embryos are babies.”

“We always want fertility options to be available to parents while they are trying to have their own children,” highlighted the Republican pre-candidate, who used fertility in vitro to have a child, on Fox News this Saturday (24).

“Any decision made with the embryos needs to be between the parents and the doctor, period,” he commented, adding that the government should not “meddle” in these conversations.

An Alabama Supreme Court ruling this week raised the question of fertilization in vitro for the 2024 presidential campaign.

In the unprecedented decision, the court stated that frozen embryos are children – and those who destroy them can be held responsible for manslaughter. The decision could have profound impacts on the functioning of the fertility industry in Alabama, critics warned.

Former President Donald Trump also said on Friday (23) that he supports women's access to fertility in vitro and that state lawmakers must “act quickly to find an immediate solution” to keep the procedure available in Alabama.
