The federal government started this Monday (4th) a task force to try to avoid a withdrawal of economist Adriano Pires to the command of Petrobras.
According to sources heard by the CNN Brazil of the Civil House and Economy, the economist contacted members of the federal government on the morning of this Monday (4) and signaled difficulties in assuming the role if his name was approved.
According to members of the Economy, the nod made by Pires was informal and representatives of the federal government still believe in a retreat by the economist until the end of the day.
In a note released this Monday (4), the Planalto Palace and the Ministry of Mines and Energy reported that they had not received any official communication from Pires.
The main factor pointed out as a difficulty for Pires has been the indication that he should stop in the requirements of the State-owned Law.
The law passed in the Michel Temer government limits the appointment of executives who have a relationship or kinship with owners of companies that indicate a conflict of interest, or that operate in the same sector.
This is the case of the Brazilian Infrastructure Center, founded by Adriano Pires and which would be managed by his son, Pedro Rodrigo Pires.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy told CNN Brazil that the appointment of the economist follows the legal and administrative procedures and that it is necessary to wait for all the analyses. If there is an obstacle, the note says, they want to first make sure it can be overcome.
