Government wants to resume meat exports to China from Wednesday

The federal government hopes to resume beef exports to China as early as this week. The hammer will be beaten after a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the summit of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) this Tuesday (7).

Sources from the Ministry of Agriculture reported to the CNN that, depending on what is agreed, exports could already be resumed between Wednesday and Thursday. The folder has been working to expedite the return of marketing in an “immediate” way, since the confirmation that the case of mad cow disease registered in Pará was indeed atypical.

The understanding of the federal government is that there are no more impediments to the opening of the market, but it is still necessary to make sure that the documentation presented to the Chinese authorities is complete.

Last week, an examination carried out in a reference laboratory in Canada confirmed that the case of mad cow disease registered in Brazil is isolated, that is, without prejudice to the quality of beef produced in the country.

Sales to China have been suspended since February 23, when the disease was confirmed in a 9-year-old bull in Pará. The animal was sacrificed and the carcass incinerated.
