Government will allocate resources to help victims of rains in Bahia

The Minister of Citizenship, João Roma, said this Saturday (25) to the policy analyst at CNN Basilia Rodrigues that the federal government will allocate resources to assist in assisting victims of inconvenience caused by heavy rains in southern Bahia in recent days.

Basilia also informed that the national secretary of Civil Defense, Alexandre Lucas, should travel to Bahia this Sunday morning (26) to facilitate articulation with local authorities. Lucas told the analyst that the federal aid is being divided into two parts. The first is to focus efforts on rescue efforts to help victims who are still isolated. The government should even send fuel to the region, to be used in aircraft that are supporting the action of firefighters.

The second part of the emergency work announced by the minister concerns assistance actions. The folder should send food baskets to the victims, in addition to providing funds for shelter and for the purchase of basic items such as food, clothing and medicine.

The minister did not inform the exact amount of food baskets and the value of the resources that will be destined to Bahia.

The rains that hit the state since the beginning of the month have already caused at least 12 deaths and left nearly 300 people injured, in addition to more than 15,100 homeless and 6,300 homeless.

Due to the storms, the federal government recognized a state of emergency in 17 municipalities in Bahia and 31 cities in Minas Gerais.
