With the approval of the economic team, Palácio do Planalto is working on modeling a voucher for truck drivers and increasing the gas voucher, according to senior government officials.
The plan is to put the two benefits on the street as the government’s response to the rise in fuel prices. The measures would also be an alternative to political pressure to modify the State-Owned Companies Law.
According to a member of the Planalto, the government is not working on the text of the provisional measure, contrary to what the government leader in the Chamber, Ricardo Barros, informed.
Paulo Guedes was quick behind the scenes to oppose Arthur Lira’s idea of changing the legislation, which was approved in the Michel Temer government and prohibits political appointments in government-controlled companies. To interlocutors, Guedes has said that it is “consistent and predictable” and would not defend that path.
In the Planalto, the idea is attributed to politics and the National Congress. “Government is in a unique position”, said a presidential aide about the plan to increase the gas voucher and create the truck driver voucher in opposition to the MP of the State Law.
