The Forum of Governors will meet again this Tuesday (22), at 9 am, in Brasília. On the agenda, controversial issues such as the single rate of the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) on fuels.
This is because, after the National Congress approves a bill that determines that ICMS is the same in all states, many governors threaten to judicialize the determination, as they fear a drop in revenue with the new law.
According to Governor Ibaneis Rocha, from the Federal District, the possibility of easing the health emergency measures of the coronavirus pandemic will also be discussed among the heads of state executives.
Interlocutors say that there is still a dispute between the governors over this idea.
Flexibility is welcomed by the majority, but, according to sources, there is a fear that by agreeing to the change, the states will end up demonstrating that the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, has always been right in his criticism of the governors.
Also according to Ibaneis Roca, the reduction of the Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI) is also another subject that will be discussed during the meeting this Tuesday.
Since the federal government issued a decree at the beginning of the month that cuts the tax by 25%, which, for most governors, will also impact the revenue of states and municipalities.
