Governors plan to go to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) against the project approved this Thursday (10) by the Senate that changes the form of ICMS collection. According to the governor of Piauí, Wellington Dias, the text is unconstitutional.
“Let’s go to the STF to avoid harm to our people. We will not accept taking money from the people, because public money belongs to our people, to send it to the game of speciation and profits like the R$ 103 billion Petrobras distributed to investors, from the poor people to the pockets of the richest”, said the governor. , coordinator of the National Forum of Governors.
Dias criticized the senators’ posture and said that the project creates a “fictitious” value, far below the reality of the market.
“The federation house, the Senate, worked against the federation, contributing to disorganizing the federation. It was already expected from Bolsonaro, but from the Senate?”, said Wellington Dias. “The dialogue that opened yesterday was make-believe,” he said.
The governor recalled that the fuel has not stopped rising even with the initiative of the states to freeze the ICMS, thus indicating that the change in the collection of the tax will not solve the escalation of prices.
“It is already proven that the increase in fuel prices has not stopped since November, even with the ICMS frozen, by decision of the Governors and Confaz. So nothing will change. Today even another mega increase in gasoline and diesel oil and with ICMS equal to November. Why the increase? It wasn’t ICMS. And yes, indexation to the international price,” he said.
