The president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he asked the NATO secretary general to convene a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council to discuss security in the Black Sea and in particular the operation of a corridor for the export of Ukrainian of grain.
In his evening message, Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that during their telephone conversation he asked Jens Stoltenberg to convene the Council, which was established during the Atlantic Alliance summit in Vilnius.
“In our cooperation we have moved to a new, more advanced level, in the NATO-Ukraine Council, and this mechanism can have an effect,” the Ukrainian president said.
“I suggested to Jens that the Council be convened without delay to consult on the crisis. The meeting will take place in the coming days. We can overcome the security crisis in the Black Sea.”
It is not known whether NATO accepted Zelensky’s proposal, according to Reuters and the Athens News Agency.
