Grammy 2022: all the winners of a “no slaps” evening

No live slaps and no scandals to remember. While fearing the unpredictable reaction of Kanye West, present at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas without being able, however, to perform on stage for his online conduct in recent months, the Grammys 2022 run smoothly by renouncing registered contributions that had held the bench in 2021 and allowing the public to breathe again the aura of great live events. Beyond the video of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskywho took advantage of the Grammy stage to explain that he wanted to defend freedom and want to fill the silence with music – an intervention that the president would have liked to give also during the night of the Oscars at the invitation of Sean Penn -, the evening saw essentially the triumph of three artists who took home the four heaviest awards of the ceremony: Jon Batiste, the jazzman who won the Grammy for album of the year thanks to We Are, movement inspired Black Lives Matter; the Silk Sonicwho triumphed for best song and best record of the year thanks to Leave the Door Open, and nineteen Olivia Rodrigo, awarded the title of best emerging artist. Reward, however, too Doja Cat and SZA, that were remembered, more than for the Grammy as best duo, for the pee break that was in danger of making Doja Cat lose the award ceremony.

We were supposed to celebrate three Grammys with them. But they, of course, are not here, due to the tragic death of their legendary drummer Taylor Hawkins, “said host Trevor Noah, while shortly after, to remember Hawkins, it was also Billie Eilish, who paid tribute to the Foo Fighters drummer by singing the song Happier Than Ever wearing a black T-shirt with his portrait printed on it.

Among the Versace dresses worn by Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallionthe thrill of reviewing the Grammys Joni Mitchell after the aneurysm that hit her seven years ago, and the posthumous awards to the legend of the jazz piano Chick Koreawho passed away in February 2021, and to the Mexican singer Vicente Fernandezwho died in December at the age of 81, the 2022 Grammys are also remembered for the militant performance of John Legend, who sang Free wearing a blue dress accompanied by the Ukrainian singer Mika Newton, the musician Siuzanna Igidan and the poet Lyuba Yakimchuk; from the crackling energy of BTS; and from the energy surge of Travis Barker, Lenny Kravitz and HER on the notes of Are You Going to Go My Way. Finally, a special mention for Lady Gaga, who monopolized the attention of the red carpet with her deconstructed Armani Privè dress, and the throbbing understanding between Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin.
