Sunday night the Grammys will pay tribute to a rock and roll legend, the late drummer of Foo Fighters Taylor Hawkins. Hawkins, drummer of the group since 1997, died last week at the age of 50 of as yet unknown causes. The band was supposed to play at the Estéreo Picnic Festival in Bogota, Colombia that Friday, but an hour before the concert was announced that Hawkins disappeared. His last performance had been the previous Sunday in San Isidro, Argentina.
After his death, the band released only an official statement which read: “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and contagious laughter will live on forever with us all. Our hearts go out to wives, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this difficult time in an unimaginable way. “
