The British singer Liam Payne was remembered in a Moving Tribute on the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (2). One Direction singer died at the age of 31 after falling from the balcony of a hotel in Argentina in October last year, and was the first celebrity to be honored during the annual segment In memoriam of the ceremony.

The montage began with several Liam and One Direction clips performing over the years, with the star saying in a moment: “We never expected it to happen, I sit down and think, ‘Oh, we actually did something amazing.”

Coldplay singer Chris Martin played on the piano and sang his band’s song “All My Love”, accompanied by a small string section and guitarist Grace Bowers. Deep down, images of people from the music industry who died last year were shown behind him at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Among the honorees were the country of country music Toby Keith, who died of cancer in February 2024, and the legend of the song Soul Sam Moore, who died last month, at the age of 89, after complications resulting from surgery.

DJ/producer Clark Kent, Allman Brothers Dicky Betts, and Garth Hudson were also remembered, as well as Kris Kristofferson, Phil Lesh and Marianne Faithfull, the latter died at 78 a few days ago.

Fans speculated that One Direction could meet for the tribute, but Grammy’s band’s friend and executive producer Ben Winston recently ruled out this possibility.

“It’s a very difficult time. Losing Liam was very, very hard. No doubt about it. But no, there will be no presentation of One Direction. He was the most beautiful and wonderful boy, and I love him very, so much. He is, of course, in our ‘in memoriam’, no doubt, ”the businessman told Entertainment Tonight.
