Grammy Awards 2022: The best looks from the red carpet

O Grammy Awards has a reputation for bringing bolder, more flashy fashion to the red carpet than almost any other major awards ceremony — and the stars didn’t disappoint when they hit the red carpet this Sunday night.

Held for the first time in Las Vegas, the 64th edition of the event was initially scheduled for January, but was postponed due to Covid-19. However, the pandemic seemed like a distant memory as celebrities without masks showed up in elaborate outfits and fun accessories.

While some of the night’s biggest names opted for black — from Dua Lipa in a sheer Versace gown with gold drops, to Billie Eilish in a voluminous Rick Owens gown — it was pink that reigned big at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Nominee duo Saweetie stunned in a hot pink two-piece Valentino with matching opera gloves. Chrissy Teigen and St. Vincent impressed in the dramatic ruffle creations, both in slightly lighter shades of color.

Evening men have also joined the trend, with Travis Barker donning a pink silk robe, Trevor Noah donning a pastel tuxedo jacket and Billy Porter impressing in a spectacular fluorescent creation from Valentino’s Fall-Winter 2022 womenswear collection.

At another time, the BTS members looked mellow in a complementary assortment of custom colored Louis Vuitton suits. Justin Bieber took a more relaxed approach, with an oversized suit topped off with one of his beanies (this one also embraced the hot pink trend).

Numerous stars sought out striking details, sequins and embroidery to make a statement, with Jasmine Sanders and Lil Nas X opting for butterfly embellishments in, respectively, a long-sleeved dress and a Balmain theatrical suit.

Others, meanwhile, had fun with accessories — like Halsey’s sculptural hat, Doja Cat’s candy-filled glass bag, and Olivia Rodrigo’s choker, one of several Y2K throwbacks on display.

There were lots of fun nails and colorful hair too, from Michelle Zauner’s bright yellow fingertips, which were intricately painted to match her Valentino dress, to J Balvin’s blue finish.

And it wouldn’t be the Grammys without some more bizarre choices. SHE shared social media in a yellow and orange kaftan jumpsuit designed by Dundas, while British singer Yola needed the help of several other contestants to unfurl the full splendor of her head-to-toe purple outfit.

The strangest outfit of the night, however, came from singer-songwriter Tayla Parx, who arrived in a studded jumpsuit that saw her compared to Nintendo’s character Bowser.
